Bagels and Beans

The Happy Vegetarian has been missing in action lately. She’s too embarrassed to post what she’s really been eating for the last few weeks: take-out, microwave meals, bowls of popcorn… and when she’s feeling particularly lazy — large spoonfuls of peanut butter straight out of the jar.

Luckily, she has found that the Bagels and Beans down the road serves a gigantic cappuccino made with soy milk to fuel her energy. Certainly something hard to find in the Netherlands. Plus a wicked multi-grain bagel loaded with avocado and tomatoes served with cream cheese on the side, if you so desire.

  1. I had a cappuccino with soy milk the other day (the restaurant didn’t have lactose free milk) and didn’t find that it frothed as well as regular milk, regular milk is just smoother. The foam on top almost seemed artificial.

  2. Weird, maybe it was the brand of soy milk that they’re using.

I’ve had plenty of soy milk based frothy drinks at Starbucks and never had a problem. Maybe try one there to compare.
